FRIENDS OF ALABONSON PARK |
GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY - OCTOBER 16, 2020 On October 16, 2020 we celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony of Alabonson Park!! Commissioner Jack Cagle has done a wonderful job turning this once unused park space ( with weeds and high grass ) into an amazing park that will be a great asset for the entire community. Amenities for the 50.21 acres include: softball/baseball fields, a concession stand, community room, soccer fields, football fields, and trails. Three soccer fields funded by the Qatar Harvey Fund will serve as water collection basins to mitigate future flooding. A lot of detention areas that connect to many more acres of county property. Thank you to our park partners working together to bring this park to the community, including Harris County Precinct 4 Parks Department, the Near Northwest Management District, the Embassy of the State of Qatar, Qatar-Consulate Houston, Texas Parks and Wildlife, the City of Houston, the Friends of Alabonson Park, and others. |
